Project Synopsis:
This two-year post-graduate fellowship in objects conservation focuses on a selection of objects to be treated and a research direction, as well as participation in work generated by the museum’s exhibition and acquisition schedule.  Objects encompass contemporary as well as traditional artworks, and the research project contributes to African art conservation and/or art history.  I have chosen to focus on organic materials and painted surfaces and my
research component is the analysis and characterization of green pigments used by royal Yoruba artist, Olowe of Ise. I also participate in the mentoring of undergraduate and pre-program interns.
